About MeMy name is Melanie Walton. I am from Fargo, ND where my parents, brother, and dog still reside. Currently, I am studying psychology at the University of Mary. After undergraduate completion I hope to pursue a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy at the University of Mary.
I believe that life has so much to offer if we are open to it and work for it. This is why I am passionate about occupational therapy; it is all about overcoming obstacles and living life to its fullest. In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, drawing, painting, hiking, laughing, and taking in everything I encounter. |
Mission Statement
I strive to passionately experience the fullness of life, being a kind, compassionate, and inspiring person in the lives of those I encounter
Work Experience |
During the past school year, I had the opportunity to work for Bismarck Public Schools as an AVID tutor. Many of the kids that I worked with were first generation college bound students. Working with this diverse bunch of students was a blast. Seeing them grow and strive for success was a very rewarding experience.
For the summer of 2017, I will be employed by the Boys and Girls Club of the Red River Valley (Fargo) in their Youth Commission program. This is a summer program for kids, kindergarten through 6th grade. |
Being in ELAThe Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA) has meant a great deal to me. This class has helped me develop as a professional and as a person. The skills ELA has equipped me with are ones I will carry forward and build upon in my future. The relationships gained through ELA are ones I will cherish. Working with such a great group of individuals, professors and peers alike, has been a highlight of my educational experience at the University of Mary.
