A true team works together effectively and efficiently, moving towards a common goal with respect for all team members maintained along the way. Being able to work together, brainstorm, and even argue is a sign of a good team. This collaboration helps a goal-oriented group achieve great things. In addition, for a team to work smoothly, it is important for everyone to know what their job is and what is expected of them in that job. When we know our job and are dedicated to our goals, a team can achieve so much more than any one individual can imagine.
In our class, we did a small team building exercise in which we had to blow through straws to keep a ping pong ball going in a straight line down the table. We each discussed where we would stay and what portion of the table we would be responsible for. When one of us succeeded, the whole group was very excited, because the victory was important to all of us. |
